Description
Queen Tamar (1160-1213) was the ruler of Georgia who reigned from 1184 to 1213. Her reign is considered Georgia's "Golden Age." Tamar was a strong and wise ruler who strengthened the country's political and cultural status. During her reign, Georgia became one of the most powerful states in the Caucasus. Many churches and monasteries were built during Tamar's rule, and literature and arts flourished.
